Outdoors

Nestled along a 60-mile string of beaches known as the Grand Strand, the Myrtle Beach area is essentially one big playground for anyone with a taste for outdoor adventure. The hard part is simply knowing where to begin, but we're here to help. These are some of our real estate agents' favorite outdoor adventures in the Myrtle Beach area.

  • Fishing: Apache Pier - 9700 Kings Rd, Myrtle Beach, SC 29572
Anglers can choose among eight fishing piers in and around Myrtle Beach. The Apache Pier is a local favorite. The longest wooden fishing pier on the East Coast, it's located along a beautiful stretch of beach adjacent to the Apache Campground and is near many Myrtle Beach homes for sale. This 1,206-foot, T-shaped pier has its own bait shop and restaurant, along with fishing rod rentals. Croaker, summer flounder, grouper, bluefish, and Spanish mackerel are common catches.

  • Paddling: Myrtle Beach Paddle Board & Kayak Adventures - 870 Frontage Rd, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577
Myrtle Beach offers a wealth of opportunities for paddling, from the Atlantic Ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway to inland creeks, rivers, and salt marshes. Myrtle Beach Paddle Board & Kayak Adventures is one of the leading local paddling companies offering kayak and paddle board rentals with free delivery to your chosen launch site. They also offer guided paddling tours throughout the Myrtle Beach area, which is a great way to explore the water with an experienced guide.

  • Golf: Myrtle Beach National Golf Club - 4900 National Dr, Myrtle Beach, SC 29579
Myrtle Beach is home to some of the best golf courses on the East Coast. The Myrtle Beach National Golf Club leads the way with three beautiful, challenging courses all designed by golf legend Arnold Palmer. This 54-hole property is simply an exceptional place to play golf. Best of all, you don't need a membership to book a tee time through the Myrtle Beach National Golf Club website.

  • Surfing: Surfside Beach - 513 Ocean Blvd S, Surfside Beach, SC 29575
The Myrtle Beach area offers prime surfing conditions throughout much of the year. Summer is generally the best time to surf, with consistent breezes that produce excellent swells. You can surf almost anywhere along the coast, but the aptly named Surfside Beach, about 8 miles south of Myrtle Beach, is an especially popular area. Surfing is permitted throughout Surfside Beach except within 300 feet of the Surfside Beach Fishing Pier.

  • Hiking & Biking: Horry County Bike & Run Park - 150 Frontage Rd B-2, Myrtle Beach, SC 29579
You'll have no trouble finding great places to take a hike and bike in Myrtle Beach, but the Horry County Bike & Run Park is one of the top spots. This wooded 72-acre park is home to a 7-mile trail system. With twists and turns designed to keep mountain bikers' adrenaline pumping, the trails are also open to hiking, jogging, and leashed pets. It's a popular area, but weekdays tend to be quiet.

  • Camping: Myrtle Beach State Park - 4401 S Kings Hwy, Myrtle Beach, SC 29575
Of all the campgrounds in Myrtle Beach, it's hard to top Myrtle Beach State Park. With 300 campsites ranging from primitive tent sites to full-hookup RV sites, the campground here can accommodate virtually anyone. Campers have access to modern restrooms, showers, and laundry facilities, plus WiFi throughout the campground. Myrtle Beach State Park also offers hiking trails, beach access, and its own fishing pier.
