There's nothing like a fun holiday outing to get you feeling festive. Our real estate agents make sure to attend at least a few of the many seasonal events happening each year in our service area. Want to see what keeps them coming back? Head out to these five seasonal attractions around Myrtle Beach and get your dose of holiday cheer.
The Great Christmas Light Show is one of Myrtle Beach's premier holiday attractions, stretching over a 2-mile driving path inside North Myrtle Beach Park and Sports Complex. The route features colorful lights and light displays, including 30 animated light figures that make the scenes they're part of come to life. There's even a musical segment with lights that flash in time to holiday music played through your car radio.
The show costs $25 per vehicle on nights when Santa's Village (an extra attraction we'll talk more about later) is open or just $20 if the village is closed. It operates between 5:30 PM and 9:30 PM each night from November 24th to December 30th and takes most people about an hour to drive through.
After you and your family have enjoyed the Great Christmas Light Show, you can head over to Santa's Village for even more holiday fun. This extra attraction is free for Light Show ticket holders and offers:
The village is open Thursday through Sunday from 5:30 PM to 9:30 PM for most of the season. After December 11th, it'll be open every night until December 30th.
Every holiday season, Ripley's Aquarium hosts their much-loved Festival of Trees event. Guests can wander the exhibits to find more than 75 illuminated Christmas trees scattered around the building.
Most of the trees are decorated to represent individual states, adding extra fun to your visit as you discover how each state's signature features have been translated into ornaments.
The festival begins in early November and runs until the end of the holiday season. Admission is included in a standard aquarium ticket. Tickets cost $42.99 for adults, $26.99 for kids aged 6 to 11, and $14.99 for kids aged 3 to 5. Kids under 3 get in for free.
Take a walk to remember during Myrtle Beach's famous Winter Wonderland at the Beach. The event features countless colorful lights strung between the palm trees along a full mile of boardwalk next to the ocean. Next to the path, you'll spot fun ocean-themed versions of holiday scenes and characters.
The lights are lit from 5 PM to 9 PM every night starting November 28th. The boardwalk is completely free to visit and doesn't require any tickets for entry.
The Nights of a Thousand Candles is a special winter event held at Brookgreen Gardens, a gorgeous 9,000-acre green space just 20 minutes south of Myrtle Beach.
Each night from November 29th to January 4th, the gardens are lit up with endless strands of electrical light and nearly 3,000 hand-lit candles (positioned away from flammable plants, of course). You'll discover breathtaking illuminated scenes as you wander the glowing pathways, enjoying live music and treating yourself to goodies from the on-site food trucks.
You can visit this attraction from 4 PM to 9 PM Wednesday through Sunday. Tickets cost $40 per adult and $20 per child aged 4 to 12. Members receive a $5 discount on every ticket they purchase. You can also purchase a Sparkle and Fun package for an additional fee. If you do, you'll receive a glass of wine or cider and a set of holographic glasses that make the light show even more impressive.
